The security deposits are held in escrow accounts at an account-holding credit institution. They are subject to statutory deposit protection up to €100,000 per tenant in accordance with the applicable statutory provisions. Depending on the account-holding institution, voluntary deposit protection may also exist in addition to statutory deposit protection. Whether and to what extent such additional deposit protection exists depends exclusively on the security conditions of the respective account-holding credit institution. Sie gehören daher grundsätzlich nicht zur Insolvenzmasse der Hausverwaltung.
